Postby wisconsin_cur on Fri Nov 20, 2009 5:02 pm

EAU CLAIRE — Scientists from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and community members once again will share their expertise with the public through a series of free events called "Ask a Scientist" at the Acoustic Café in downtown Eau Claire.

"Ask a Scientist" debuted in March 2007 and proved to be a popular monthly event. Geared toward the educated layperson and featuring 30-minute presentations on a variety of scientific topics, the talks typically will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. A 30-minute discussion period will follow each presentation. The fall schedule is as follows:

Dr. J. Brian Mahoney, professor of geology, will present "The Future of Fossil Fuels."
“It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.” J.R.R. Tolkien

Sevareid's Law: "The leading cause of problems is solutions."
